God told Joshua:
“Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.” Joshua 1:6
Success to him wasn’t in being King over Israel but dividing the inheritance of the Israelites amongst themselves, and God told him how to ensure he would be successful:
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8
It wasn’t in enlisting him and the soldiers to a special battle/ architectural boot camp, God thought no matter the type of challenge- physical, financial, technical, emotional, spiritual; meditating on the word was enough to guarantee definite success! Wow!
And how true, because the victories wrought by Joshua and even Moses were never tied to the physical or intellectual might of the Israelites but by keeping the word of God and by seeing the hand of God.
You are God’s building and so you are only as successful as you match his expectation for your life.
