What an SUED Christmas for us yesterday as Pastor showed us from Hebrews 10:7- “Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.”- how Jesus came to fulfil scripture, an example of this is found in Luke 4- Jesus quoted Isaiah 61 and afterwards “…he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.” revealing his consciousness as he walked on the earth.
Pastor showed us how Jesus knew he came to fulfil scripture (Matthew 5:17) and how that fulfillment of scripture was in two parts as seen in 1 Peter 1:11 “Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow”- “the sufferings of Christ” and “the glory that should follow”. Jesus has suffered, died and resurrected, we live in his glory now! We also came to fulfil scripture as the epistles of Christ, 2 Corinthians 3:3 “Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart”.
So when we study our bible, Just as Jesus saw who he was supposed to be and refused to accept less, we also in that same light should see who we are and walk in that same sense of purpose, refusing to be less.
