“To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:”
Romans 2:7

It is exactly what Jesus told us, he didn’t just come to stop us from perishing, he also came that we may have eternal life:
“…whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
So he didn’t just abolish death- render death ineffective for us- and we see this truth reflected in his instruction towards us if we ever ingest that which is deadly:
“…if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them…” Mark 16:18, see also Luke 10:19
He also brought life, and in that life he made manifest for us incorruption- this is our vital reality, the vitality of that which he had legally wrought for us when we got born again:
“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2 Peter 1:4
This means it’s not some ethereal fact that we were saved from decadence; he expects us to have this truth expressed always.
