“I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.”
1 Timothy 2:8
There are different things Jesus exposes us to in Matthew 6:5-6 concerning God’s expectation of us in prayer, he says don’t pray to be seen- acknowledged or revered- by men, because that is all the reward you would get: the glory and awe of man, which eventually fades.
“…all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:” 1 Peter 1:24
He also tells us that God expects everyone of us to have a prayer closet, where we fellowship with him in secret, he doesn’t mean a physical wardrobe, but he expects that we have a private space and time to fellowship with God and share moments with him in secret. For Jesus, he rose up early in the day and went outside or he spent time on the mount: Mark 1:35, Mark 6:46.
Another big thing we learn is that there is a reward to be gotten in prayer, and when it’s from God, he rewards OPENLY! So don’t make efforts looking for the glory of men, seek to spend true time with God and in his wisdom, your results would eventually be seen by men.
