“I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.”
1 Timothy 2:8
Our Father sees in secret and rewards openly! It takes away any pressure to ‘be something’ or ‘always try to prove a point’ in the eyes of men. Jesus said:
“For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.” Luke 8:17
And true to his being the word, after praying and fasting for forty days and night, he didn’t go around boasting about it when confronted by the Pharisees: Luke 5:33-34.
“But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.” Matthew 6:7-8
Another thing we learn from Jesus concerning the prayer of petition is that we should understand that before we pray, God already knows why we are calling on him, so there’s no need to force or compel him, but we should be specific and clear enough in what we are praying for.
