“I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.”
1 Timothy 2:8
He also tells us our priority when we come before God- it should be primarily the glory of his name, the purpose of his kingdom and his will on the earth:
“After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:9-10
God is not a lifeless idol, so he isn’t telling us that we must appease him with talks about his kingdom first before we move on to ‘more pressing’ personal matters affecting us. He is saying that your whole life should be about his kingdom:
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33
Notice, he offers no balance, he tells you what should be first and only- his kingdom and then every other thing would work in place in your favour.
Trying to balance life between what you consider spiritual, emotional, financial and physical is a goalless effort; do things Jesus’ way. Only one thing is needful!
