Service on Sunday at Love Haven Church was filled with many beautiful and joyous moments, truly, there is fullness of joy in the presence of God.
Pastor began to teach from 1 John 3:22,
“And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.”
The word of God clearly assures us that when we keep God’s commandments, we will receive whatsoever we ask of him; he goes on to clarify the commandments he expects us to keep, he leaves us no cause for doubt or uncertainty;
“And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.” 1 John 3:23
He is talking to Christians who have already believed in Jesus and received his life and so his emphasis is that when we pray in the name of Jesus, we should believe in the ability of name of Jesus to grant us our desires, the name of Jesus is greater than any other name and God wants us to have confidence in the ability of that name to give us anything we ask for, what God checks for when we pray is if we really believe in that name; when we do, we will receive whatever we want.
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us” Hebrews 12:1
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28 – 30
The word of God calls us to lay aside every weight and every thing that may hinder us from running our race with speed, he calls us to lay down our burdens and learn of him; to receive only the information that he gives, one of these things that he teaches us to do is to give thanks always because whatever our desires or expectations are, he has already done something about them, he doesn’t want us to compare ourselves with others neither does he want us to be overwhelmed by challenges, he forewarned us that challenges will come but as long as we learn of him and follow his guidance, we will walk in the reality of his will concerning our lives.
