“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”  
2 Peter 1:4

The decay and decadence in the world, we have escaped, Jesus said:
“…because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.”  John 17:14
We are different and we were born that way- decay proof! It’s like the water proof wristwatch, it might never get the chance to be placed in water throughout its existence and might seem like any other wristwatch but if it ever gets placed in water, it becomes clear that it was never like the others, it’ll come out still functioning with the water gliding of its screen without a trace of damage.
When we got born again, we became decay, corruption proof, we are in the world, but none of the decadence in the world is allowed to have any effect on us, the Bible says:
“…the whole world lieth in wickedness.”  1 John 5:19
So wickedness is a theme of the world, noted emphatically in the realm of the spirit and the Bible clearly shows us that such wickedness is caused by evil spirits:
“…the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”  Ephesians 6:12
So there are spirits that control the darkness and wickedness in this world- but there’s nothing to fear, no matter how dark, wicked or ‘high in ranks’ these spirits are, they’re still subject to the devil and that devil is not just under our feet but he flees at our slightest resistance:
“…Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”  James 4:7
Jesus said step on them- march them, they do not have it in them to hurt you BY ANY MEANS!
“See, I have given you power to put your feet on snakes and evil beasts, and over all the strength of him who is against you: and nothing will do you damage.”  Luke 10:19, BBE
