“Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.”
1 Peter 3:9
When God renamed Abraham, his name didn’t match his circumstances optically, but eventually, we see that no other name could have been more fitting. When God named John the Baptist and Jesus, they were little babies; one would wonder why he named them such- but eventually, we see that no other name could have been more fitting for the son of God, saviour of the world and the one who introduced him to Israel.
When God tells you to name, count your challenge ‘joy’, you might not have any reason to name it joy, but eventually, if you do, you would see that no other description could have been good enough.
When God tells you to bless those who slander you, you might have all the reasons why you should respond differently, but soon enough, you’d realize that blessing them was the best response, because at the end of the day, you would be joyfully improved, irrespective of what has been said about you or what you are going through.
So copy God- name situations and see them live up to their names.
