“Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;”  2 Timothy 1:8

The main verse was for the young minister called Timothy and is relevant today for every child of God. He says do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord! Never be ashamed to bear witness of our Lord and his testimony- his gospel.
People might laugh at the ‘concept’ of eternal life and might ridicule miracles, don’t cower, don’t be ashamed! Stand firm for the gospel, and if they express the same emotions towards you, he says that’s even better:
“be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel”
This idea that you would never be mocked or rebuked for what you believe is not from God, Jesus fervently promised persecution to every child of God:
“And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left (etc) for my sake, and the gospel’s, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time (etc)with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.”  Mark 10:29-30
The main verse is more precise, he says there are afflictions of the gospel- you might lose your job because of the gospel; there are those who have been beaten, imprisoned and even died because of the gospel- he says don’t complain, partake of it- be a good soldier.
If people are laughing at Jesus, let them laugh at you too- you are one with him, accept the persecution with gladness. Never get embarrassed or seek to distance yourself from our Lord or his testimony!
