“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”  
1Peter 1:23

Jesus said:
“…Ye must be born again.”  John 3:7
In other words, you must not perish, you must receive eternal life,
“…whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”  John 3:16
you must be the first and the best of his creatures:
“Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.”  James 1:18
There is another option, but he doesn’t want the world to even give that a thought. In receiving eternal life, man signs up to live the best life, the best way, all the time- a life of fullness:
“…I came so that everyone would have life, and have it in its fullest.”  John 10:10, CEV
A life devoid of lack and darkness:
“In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”  John 1:4
Jesus said, living this life is a must. He really is a good God. When you get born again, you are the very child of God:
“Beloved, now are we the sons of God…”  1John 3:2
You cease to be just another creation, you become his offspring, he becomes your father! Jesus said, God being your father, is a must! Your receiving and living in his overwhelming love is a must.
Goodness, mercy, loving kindness chasing after you is a must!
