Praise the Lord!

It was an awesome time today during our on-site service as we rejoiced in the goodness of God and received the blessings of his word.

Pastor started her message by reminding us that greatness in God’s kingdom is through service and that we can do something about determining our rank in the kingdom of God; by giving ourselves to service in God’s house, we can position ourselves to be great in the kingdom of God. Jesus said in Matthew 20:26-27 whosoever shall be great should be the minister and whosoever shall be chief, the servant, showing us that anybody can decide or choose to be that person simply by serving. Pastor also showed us that the example Jesus gave of such service was domestic, he washed the feet of his disciples proving that we should not take for granted service in God’s house no matter how unimportant and unglamorous the responsibility seems.

Pastor went on to talk about the importance of our walk with the Lord teaching us that the best way to be led by the Spirit is through his word and that walking with God is walking with his word and doing as he says. She read from Matthew 5:19,

“Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

Those that ignore the word of God and teach others to do the same are considered least in the Kingdom of God, Pastor explained that these commandments are things that are thought to be not of much importance, as an example, she explained that those who ignore the instruction in God’s word to go to church often claiming that the church is in their heart and transfer this same mindset to others exhibit the characteristics of them that are least in the kingdom of God. Jesus also said whosoever shall do and teach the commandments of God shall be considered great in God’s kingdom. She showed us that God wants us to teach the word but doing the word comes first because God expects us to live the life first and in doing the word, we will easily communicate it to others.

Pastor showed us that whenever Jesus was referred to, his doing was always mentioned before his teaching. While Moses was referred to as a man mighty in words and deeds, Jesus was referred to as a man of deeds and words in Luke 24:19, the book of Acts also spoke of the things Jesus began to do and teach. In Mark 6:30, the disciples of Jesus told him the things they had done and taught. Doing comes first in the kingdom of God, we learn to do first. As an example, the word of God instructs us to be anxious for nothing, we learn to do the word by refusing to be anxious irrespective of the circumstance. Pastor charged us never to be discouraged when we do the word and it seems there is no result, she admonished us to keep doing the word till we see the desired results.

“For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.” Hebrews 5:12

There is a time for every Christian when God expects that they begin to teach others the word and he is not impressed with anything otherwise. Pastor charged us to take every opportunity to teach others even as we increase in our knowledge of God’s word. She charged us to seek to be the best christian we can be not in comparison with others but in know the word of God so well and living it.

She concluded by reading from James 5:13-16, admonishing us to see the best versions of ourselves in reading such scriptures, rather than see ourselves as the sick needing healing, we ought to see ourselves as the elders who pray for the sick. She read from Hebrews 13:7 and charged us to seek to be those whose life proves that Jesus is the same, who walk in divine health, supply just as Jesus did while he walked on the earth knowing that God’s plan and vision for us is that we be great in his kingdom by doing the word and teaching the word.
