“But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.”
1 Timothy 6:11
He tells us to follow peace in 2 Timothy 2:22; choose peace not war or prolonged grievances. Hear Jesus:
“As for the one who wants to sue you and take away your shirt, let him have your coat as well. And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two.”
Matthew 5:40-41 HCSB
Of course it seems fair and just to insist on what’s yours or argue about the journey, but instead he says choose peace. Why waste time prolonging an ‘unfruitful ego-stoking’ matter when you can spend it doing more productive things.
“If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.” Romans 12:18
As much as it is up to you, follow peace with everyone- mind your business, live a quiet life. God knows what’s best and you should walk with him.
Be like Jesus; miss opportunities to be unduly controversial and follow peace:
“And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us. And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.” Luke 9:49-50
