“Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.”
Romans 12:17
He tells us not to repay evil for evil and goes ahead to tell us to provide things that are honest in the sight of all; being vengeful doesn’t equate integrity or honesty.
Learn from Jesus again, he met the writer of that verse and knew he was headed to cause more problems for those he identifies with- good opportunity to deal with him, yet he refrained:
“…And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.” Acts 9:4-6
He didn’t tell him he was forgiven- he didn’t need to. By missing the opportunity to be vengeful, it was clear to Paul the kindness he had received:
“Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;” Ephesians 3:8
Jesus told us:
“Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” Matthew 11:29
Do likewise.
