“Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Romans 12:21
He tells you good would overwhelm evil once you’re conscious of it, no wonder Jesus insisted that we do good and not give in:
“Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.” Luke 17:3-4
You’re on the side of strength not weakness when you walk according to God’s word.
He did not just tell you to not be overcome by evil and be idle, instead have a response- overcome evil with good.
Don’t just keep quiet and stew in offense towards those who hurt and persecute you because you’ve chosen not to be vengeful, instead overcome evil not with more wrath but with good:
“But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.” Luke 6:27-28
Good is greater.
And it’s beautiful to see that Jesus lived that life, gave us the same life and expects us to live likewise: Luke 23:34.
