“For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.” 1 John 5:3
He says, the love of God is keeping his word and his word; his commandments are not grievous- they won’t cause you grief, make you regret or sorrowful. Jesus had said:
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
His yoke is easy, his burden is light- when you carry a heavy burden and a hard yoke, analyze your load with the word, because he’s emphasizing to us that his commandment is easy. He tells us:
“And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.” 1 John 3:23
Believe in his name- this is necessary for the salvation of any man; the one who has not believed the name of Jesus and declared him as lord is definitely not keeping his commandments. Then he takes it further:
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” 1 John 5:13
Those who have believed the name of Jesus, should believe they have eternal life- that means they ought to be conscious that they have a different kind of life now and believe the name of Jesus for their lives. Why trust men, their promises, their solutions more than the name of Jesus? Believe the name!
