“For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.” 1 John 5:3
This is a command from God:
“And this is his commandment, That we should… love one another, as he gave us commandment.” 1 John 3:23
He commands us to love; it’s not a suggestion or an option, neither is it conditional. We are commanded to love; and love we shall.
This means he commands us to be patient, kind, never envious, rude, arrogant, puffed up, conceited, we are commanded to believe the best in all- this is a command, and you better keep it.
He commands up to hope; to keep hope alive, after all through the resurrection of Jesus, we have been born into a lively hope- as long as a man is alive, we can hope and believe the best concerning him and even if he dies, we can hope for a resurrection!
He commands us to bear all things and to endure!
“Love is always patient; love is always kind; love is never envious or arrogant with pride. Nor is she conceited, and she is never rude; she never thinks just of herself or ever gets annoyed. She never is resentful; is never glad with sin; she’s always glad to side with truth, and pleased that truth will win. She bears up under everything; believes the best in all; there is no limit to her hope, and never will she fall.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
He commands us to succeed:
“Love never fails…” 1 Corinthians 13:8
The main verse reveals to us that his commandments are not grievous, they are not burdensome- look through the article again, and realize that when you make up your mind to be faithful, you can keep his commandments with ease.
