Praise the Lord!!!

We had yet another glorious service in this awesome month of Visions and Increase. Pastor kick-started the message by reading a passage from the book of Hebrews,

“Through faith, we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear”. Hebrews 11:3

She explained that all that we see today were made from things that are unseen and that for every thing that we can ever desire, the spoken word is that unseen thing with the ability to bring them to reality. She illustrated this with the story of the widow in 2 Kings 4 who was about to lose everything to her late husband’s creditors. All she had was a jar of oil and with the word from the prophet Elisha, it was enough to pay her debts. In the same manner, when God met Moses, all he had was a rod and that was sufficient, with that rod, he performed many miracles including bringing water out of a rock. Later on, God instructed him to bring water out of the rock by speaking to the rock proving that even if you think you don’t have a jar of oil or a rod or anything, you have words and with those unseen words, you can bring forth anything.

Pastor went on to examine the life of Jesus and showed us how much confidence he had in the spoken word, he never expected that there would be difficulties after he had spoken, instead he was certain that the words he spoke would work, with his words, he cast out devils and restored a man who had been lame for thirty eight years. He always expected to see results when he spoke.

Pastor showed us how deliberate God is in framing the world as evident in how he framed the life of Jesus with the word such that when Herod sought to kill him, he was kept safe. She charged us to be deliberate about framing our lives in the same way, she admonished that even in our study of the word, we ought to be deliberate, rather than reading the word without a plan, our study of the word should be deliberately planned.

Pastor took us a step further into the message by reading from Luke 10:22,

“All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him”

Jesus was so confident of his knowledge of the Father and that he knew the Father to the same degree that the Father knew him. Pastor admonished us to have this as a goal; to know God to the fullest extent just as He knows us. She showed us that this is one of the main purposes of eternal life, beyond salvation from hell.

“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent” John 17:3

In order to know God to the full, we needed to have his life for it is impossible to know something to the fullest extent until you have the same life with that thing, Pastor also mentioned that how much of the Father we get to know is dependent on how deliberate we are in spending time with him through his word.

Pastor concluded by reminding us that God has always made it evident that his intention is to be fully identified with man, when Moses asked for what name to give if the Israelites asked who sent him,

“…God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you”
Exodus 3:14

Pastor showed us that this was not a name, rather, it was God identifying with the person of Moses.

Pastor reminded us that as the word of the month implies, God will show us visions that are unique to us as we study the word. Jesus in studying the scriptures saw things concerning himself and he not only personalized them, he believed and took them seriously.

“And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.” Luke 24:27

Pastor informed us that the scriptures contain things that concerns us too and charged us to prioritize studying the word and to prioritize the visions we receive from the word just like John the Baptist did in John 1:23 when he was asked for his identity,

“He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias”
