“In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;” 2 Timothy 2:25

When people are opposed to themselves, satan takes advantage of them, look at this:
“Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.” John 12:4-6
Judas was a greedy thief who wanted out of the money he helped Jesus store, and he refused repentance despite knowing that Jesus had differentiated himself from the thief in John 10:10- in his opposition, satan took advantage of him- afterall, no other being is opposed to the word of God as satan is:
“Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.” Luke 22:3-4
When you juxtapose these verses with Matthew 26:1-15, you’d realize that satan entered him after that incident and from desiring to steal out of Jesus’ purse, he had it in his heart to betray and kill Jesus- which was eventually his undoing- when he realised what he had done, he killed himself. The Bible says:
“And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.” 2 Timothy 2:26
Those who oppose themselves- and this is really ignoring God’s word- would be taken captive by satan at his will; anytime satan chooses, he can destroy their lives.
