“In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;” 2 Timothy 2:25
He continues from the main verse:
“And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.” 2 Timothy 2:26
The truth doth make one free;
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32
He says the man who acknowledges the truth would recover himself from the snare of the devil. God’s role is to grant him the truth, when he receives the truth, he would by himself walk out of whatever trap the devil had bound him in- amazing!
The term ‘may recover themselves’ there could also be rendered ‘return to soberness’, a drunk man can easily mistake a dustbin for his mattress, and insist he must remain there despite the pleas of his loved ones, but once he is sober, he would walk out of that dustbin by himself.
“He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.” John 9:11
Do not oppose God’s word, be submissive to God’s instructions and when you are, you would easily walk out of that precarious situation, take a look at that man who was blind from birth, following Jesus’ instructions, gave him sight.
Take a look at that lady who’s worried for her wayward child, following God’s instruction not to worry but to instead pray and give thanks, her child would walk back home by himself.
