Glory to God! It was an ethereal experience for everyone of us at the Special Deliverance Service on Sunday, the auditorium was filled with attendees and their rife expectations and the glory of God was tangibly felt by all present. Pastor began to preach by pointing us to the words of Jesus in Luke 4:18 where he announced that he was anointed and sent to preach deliverance to the captives, Jesus there was referring to people who have been held in spiritually captivity usually evident in their bodies, minds or in their experiences and while he walked on the earth, he delivered many who had been held captive in various conditions including a woman who had been bound by Satan and bent over for 18 years, a man with an unclean spirit in the synagogue, the syrophenician woman’s daughter, the centurion’s servant among many others. Pastor then took us to Matthew 12:43 to give us an insight into what happens after a person gets delivered, we learnt that the unclean spirit goes about looking for a resting place and eventually returns to the body he left with other spirits more wicked than it to reoccupy it if it remains empty, this explains why some people who were delivered may have found themselves in the same bondage after some time, it happened because they did not give attention to receiving the word into them, Pastor reminded us that this is why the Bible instructs us to be sober and vigilant knowing that the devil goes about looking for whom to devour and only those who are vigilant by consistently speaking the word inspite of their experiences will have no resting place for him when he shows up. We also learnt that God sent Jesus not only to die for our sins but to deliver us from this present evil world as the Bible says in Galatians 1:4, now that we are born again, we have been delivered from all the issues of the world and they should no longer affect us, this includes death, sickness, failure and every other such thing, however, there are Christians who still face fear, sickness, pain and uncertainties even though God has delivered them, because they have wandered and gotten themselves exposed by accepting for themselves what is not theirs, we saw them referred to in 2 Timothy 2:25, where the word of God talks about those that oppose themselves and cause themselves to be taken captive by the devil, he shows us that what they need is to be instructed so that they can recover themselves from the snare they got themselves into, Proverbs 6:2 also shows us that those who find themselves in such a snare got in there by speaking the wrong words, a Christian can find himself in the trap of the devil, but inspite of that, every Christian is bigger than the devil and it is their duty to recover themselves out of that snare. We learnt from the story of Jonah, how he delivered himself from the belly of the fish, not by crying or begging but by speaking words in line with his desire, he spoke forth what he wanted to see and it became his reality, Jesus in the word likened himself to Jonah, through speaking the word, he facilitated his resurrection from death just as the angels confirmed to the women at the grave, as Christians, to come out of any trouble, our tool is our mouth and with it, we ought to speak forth what we want to see and where we want to be. Hallelujah! It was such an anointed message, everyone present was blessed just by listening, as the service wore on, Pastor led us to put the word to work and we spent some time speaking forth what we desired to see, at this point, Pastor ministered to the congregation through words of knowledge and many were healed and touched by the power of God even as they come out in their numbers to testify to the power of God manifested in their lives and bodies.
