Look at Jesus on that cross, taunted by his detractors while they admit that he did nothing evil to be hung, but only saved others:
“Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.” Matthew 27:41-42
He could have descended from the cross and proved to them he was the Christ, and maybe get some to believe, but true to the character of love, he didn’t:
“Love… does not brag, and it is not proud.” 1 Corinthians 13:4
And thank God he didn’t, and went through with God’s plan of salvation for us, because even after he resurrected, those who claimed his public display of divinity would have convinced them gave bribes to those who reported his resurrection asking that they lie that he was still dead (Matthew 28:11-15). He would have lost out on all sides if he had succumbed to their bidding; but he chose love (1 Corinthians 13:8a) he is the one who told us: “And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.” John 8:50, be like him.
