Jesus had said:
“He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.” John 7:18
In other words, people who just say their mind anyhow without considering what God thinks, what he has said in his word and sticking to that, are only trying to make a name for themselves, and the Bible tells us:
“…so for men to search their own glory is not glory.” Proverbs 25:27 and he also calls them fools, Proverbs 29:11.
And so, when he had the opportunity to pass judgments on the Jews and say what he wanted about them, he didn’t:
“I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.” John 8:26, see also verse 15-16.
He sought the glory of the one who sent him, and so stuck to the commandments of God (John 12:49-50) so much so he could boldly say:
“…the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.” John 14:24
Seeking the glory, honor, praise and testimony of men is futile, they themselves are still seeking eternal verities, so why think they have such to bestow on you! Jesus got what he sought: John 17:22a
