“The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.” Proverbs 12:24
The word for diligent, charuts, used here can be rendered “sharp, pointed” and it’s amazing that throughout the word, he contrasts diligence with slothfulness, so as much as it is could be abouy skill, being diligent is primarily about being quick, sharp with a “do the work, seal the deal” mindset. He says such a person would bear rule.
He won’t just stand before kings like Joseph did here: Genesis 41:14
He would also bear rule with the kings, like Joseph did here: Genesis 41:41
But the one who’s slow to get the task done, slow to improve, filled with excuses is destined to spend more money than he can even make from whatever tasks he’s given- he would be under tribute; he would never lead that industry; that should be not be you!
Take away excuses, don’t be slothful, be diligent:
“The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets.” Proverbs 26:13 (read till verse 16!)
