“And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.”
2 Thessalonians 3:5

As your love abound more and more, directed towards the love of God and your service to him, there would be no room for the distraction that comes with unfettered emotions and needs, the Bible says, you would walk blameless until the day of Christ:
“And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ” Philippians 1:9-10
He emphasizes it:
“And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you: To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.” 1 Thessalonians 3:12-13
Fight anything that tries to sway you emotions and affections away from God’s word- put them away or stay away from them. Be sober and vigilant.
Your associations also matter; walk with the wise not with the foolish, as exemplified in Jesus in Matthew 25:1-13, be busy about God’s word as a result of your association, and walk in righteousness:
“…he that winneth souls is wise.” Proverbs 11:30
