“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path.”
Psalm 119:105
As a pilgrim, abstain from fleshly desires and keep your gaze set on the word of God- the only ‘thing’ needed for your life, walk of righteousness and fulfillment:
“The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, (fixed on the one thing needful- the word, Luke 10:42) thy whole body shall be full of light (the word is light). But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!” Matthew 6:22-23
And so it is no marvel, that the Spirit’s prayer for the church through the Apostle Paul was always about knowledge and revelation from the word of God: Ephesians 1:17, Colossians 1:9, Philemon 1:6 etc.
Because desiring anything passionately outside the word of God is choosing to side against your fulfillment and further your demise because the Bible tells us “fleshly lust… war against your soul”. 1 Peter 2:11.
