“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”
Romans 8:11
The next verse is so insightful:
“Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.” Romans 8:12
He begins with ‘therefore’, meaning whatever we read in the next verse is a direct consequence of what he said in the main verse.
He says because the Spirit that raised Jesus from the dwells in you, he shall also quicken your mortal body, because of this knowledge you owe the flesh absolutely nothing, nobody and nothing will bill you if you choose not to live your life according to the dictates of the flesh.
By flesh, he means your sensory perceptions- making decisions about your life solely based on what you see, hear, smell, taste and feel, since the Holy Ghost would revitalize your mortal body, then you are under no obligation to live in accordance with the information you get from what you see and hear.
Others might get perturbed by what they see:
“And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?” Mark 4:37-38
But the Spirit that dwell in you, quickens your mortal body:
“…the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.” John 14:10
As such, you are under no obligation to conclude your decisions, actions or life based on what you see:
“And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” Mark 4:39
