“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”
Romans 8:11
Because the Spirit dwells in you, you are under no obligation live after the flesh- there’s a Spirit, who is the Lord, dwelling in you right now.
No matter what happens externally, you have an internal response- and the one inside is greater:
“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1 John 4:4
He wants you to be inside conscious just like Jesus was:
“…the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.” John 14:10
So before you react or respond to the factors that happen externally, judge internally- the one inside of you is greater than any challenge in the world.
Then he makes it clear to you, that actually, there are no options:
“For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die…” Romans 8:13
He had said:
“And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.” Galatians 5:24
This means the desired responses and lusts of the flesh have been judged and found wanting- crucified to the cross- meaning, they would never result in anything good, living after them is vanity
