Glory to God!
We had a wonderful service yesterday as we received glorious revelations from the word of God.
Pastor took a few minutes to enlighten us on the importance of salvation, she read from the books of John;
“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men” John 1:4
“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son” 1 John 5:11
Every man requires light to live their lives correctly and the life of God is that light, knowing what to do and what decisions to make at every point is dependent on having that life, whosoever has the life has gotten the light. This is why Jesus placed emphasis on the need to be born again because receiving the life of God is the starting point of fulfillment. The man who is not born again can be used by God but God is not obligated to thank him or reward him because he is merely a creation and not an offspring of God, God has no relationship with him. This truth was portrayed in the story of Cornelius in the book of Acts, even though he was a good man, God thought he needed to be born again. Pastor admonished us to share the message of salvation to unbelievers around us in order to not only save them from hell but to also give them a purpose for living.
Pastor further showed us that beyond saving us from hell, God’s utmost desire is that we are just like him,
“If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour” John 12:26
He wants us follow him to the end that we will be where he is and see as he sees knowing that what we see, we become.
Pastor explained how that once we realize that we are the same with him, it becomes easy for us to do what we see him do. She gave an illustration of how children learn to stand, walk, jump and run simply by noticing that others who look exactly like them do the same. Jesus followed the same principle, he knew he was just like his father, having the same life and could do whatever he saw his father do,
“For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself” John 5:26
He knew he was not obligated to live after the human nature because he was conscious that he had a different kind of life and he was confident that he could do whatever he saw his father do. Pastor dispelled the idea that many Christians have that they have to completely tick a check list of requirements before they can walk in the reality that Jesus did. She reminded us that when Jesus sent his disciples to heal the sick in Matthew 10, all the experience they had at that point was that had seen him do the same. With this, Pastor reiterated that whatever we see Jesus do, we can do because we have the same life and that is all that is required.
“Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise for the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel” John 5:19 – 20
Using the above scripture, Pastor also admonished us on how to correctly receive compliments, Jesus prophesied that he would see and do greater works just as he also did in John 1:50-51 after Nathaniel complimented him. Pastor taught us to use every compliment as an opportunity to prophesy greater things rather than wallowing in false humility.
In concluding the message, Pastor brought to our attention the consciousness Jesus had of his miracle working ability, he knew he could work a miracle whenever he was called upon to do so, and he responded accordingly, we have the same ability that he has, all that the father has is ours and he is not ashamed to be identified with us. Even though we look like humans, we have a different life and we can freely give of this life we have received to others.
