“No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.”
Luke 8:16
When you read the word of God, it becomes very clear what separated the great kings of old from their counterparts- they consulted the Lord, walked in his righteousness and they prospered; all of that would not have been remotely possible if they didn’t have his word. And what’s more? They were not just great and remained in one position, but they were always expanding and making progress.
We have such documented evidence in the Old Testament of the main verse being absolutely true and dependable- if we spend time with God’s word, and walk in his wisdom, he would set us up and cause others to come to our light for their benefit:
“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.” Isaiah 60:1, 3
