“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2 Peter 1:4
The Bible says:
“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” 1 John 2:16
They are of the prince of this world- satan, and they have one end- death and destruction, because those are the only things satan offers:
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…” John 10:10
So no wonder the world is immersed in and destined ti experience corruption, but Jesus said in his prayer to God about us:
“They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” John 17:16
We are not of the world, we are of God:
“Ye are of God, little children…” 1 John 4:4
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights…” James 1:17
So while the world and its systems are destined to corruption, through believing the gospel, we have escaped the decadence in the world and we ought to be conscious of our new state and estate.
