“For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.”
Psalms 5:12
Listen to David:
“Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.” Psalms 119:111
He took God’s word as his possession forever and the word made him rejoice; once he saw it in the word, he immediately laid claims of it and acted accordingly, because he knew God was his portion:
“CHETH. Thou art my portion, O LORD: I have said that I would keep thy words.” Psalms 119:57
The Bible tells us:
“Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” Galatians 4:7
You are an heir of God, meaning you ought to voraciously take a hold of God’s word as your possession; as yours, so when you see in the word that God blesses the righteous, you immediately recognize your position in life as ‘the blessed one!’ That’s who you are!!
When he tells you ‘with favour, he compasses you as a shield’, immediately realize and accept your identity- you are guarded and favored!
