“And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.” Revelation 1:16
Jesus was committed to the word and God’s purpose for his life:
“In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.” Hebrews 10:6-7
His resolve echoed Samuel’s expression of God’s preference from man: 1 Samuel 15:22
He didn’t just know what God had said concerning him, he actively spoke accordingly even in the face of opposition:
“And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things…And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.” Mark 8:31-32
And despite the ignorance of his listeners:
“For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men… But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.” Mark 9:31-32
His commitment to the word was found in his knowing what God had said and keeping what he knew on his lips. If we walk in his steps, then we ought to be just as committed to the word- in our knowledge of him and our declarations:
“…for he hath said… So that we may boldly say…” Hebrews 13:5-6
