“And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.” Revelation 1:16
The Bible shows us, in Jesus’ appearance to John, out of his mouth went a sharp two edged sword but just like everything else in this vision, that description was symbolic. The Bible tells us:
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
The Greek “stoma” translated “mouth” can also be rendered as “the edge of a sword”; so in his appearance, Jesus made clear the word was always found on his lips.
God’s righteous verdict concerning any situation was the sole utterance of Jesus. He had told us:
“For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.” John 12:49
And because the Bible tells us:
“…as he is, so are we in this world.” 1 John 4:17
It should be clear to everyone who comes in contact with us that the only thing they’d find on our lips is the word of God.
