What a blessing it was to receive the word of God during our glorious Sunday service, the word of God came to us strengthening us to walk in the reality of God’s will for us.

This Sunday, Pastor taught from 1 Timothy 6:12,

“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”

The word of God instructs us to fight, this shows us that as christians, there is no room for weakness, in instructing us to fight, he hints us that situations will come to challenge us but he also gives us insight into the kind of fight, he says it’s a good fight and that means God has seen that our victory is assured, he also calls it a fight of faith, that means things would come to test our faith, and when they do, our response should be to fight and insist on what we have believed, not to cry or complain.

The word further instructs us to lay hold on eternal life; things would come to make us doubt the divine life we possess and relegate ourselves to the human life so he instructs us to refuse to allow anything take away the conciousness of the divine life we received, Pastor reminded us of how that even though God had spoken to Abraham, the deadness of his body and of Sarah’s womb were physical realities he had to contend with, however, he refused to consider those things, instead, he held fast to the word of God and his faith brought forth results, God expects us to do likewise, refusing to accept anything contrary to the word of God we have received.

We went further in reading the main text,

“I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; ” 1 Timothy 6:13

In this fight of faith, Jesus is our greatest example, Pastor showed us that in the face of impending doom, Jesus refused to be moved, when he stood in front of Pilate in John 18:33-37 and John 19: 6-11, he held fast to his confession of who he was and what his purpose was, he was tough, he fought the good fight of faith, he was about to die, yet he neither begged for his life nor asked to be pitied.

Pastor rounded up by reading from Philippians 1:27-28,

“Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.”

This verse gives us a reason to always be bold, confident and full of joy, to never be afraid irrespective of what the challenge is, the verse says our confidence in the midst of salvation is a proof that our salvation is assured.

Pastor reminded us to always give thanks in everything situation, by refusing to fear or be concerned and instead giving thanks, that is the proof that something is happening in our favour.
