Welcome to the month of April!

It’s our month of Oneness and we are super excited about what God has planned for us in this month.

Sunday service was a glorious time of fellowship as Pastor reminded us that it is still our year of laughter and that no matter what happens, we respond with laughter because we have the victory already. She began to unravel the word for the month making clear to us God’s desire for us in this month and beyond. Beginning at Ephesians 4:17-18, we saw God’s instruction to us not to think or live our lives like the unbelievers do no matter how intelligent they seem, because everything that comes out of them is emptiness, it may work for a while but it eventually crumbles.

“This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart”

Pastor charged us not to be easily swayed by the so called intellectuals and their reasoning, but rather to have the word of God as our boundary and our guiding light and be convinced by only what the word of God tells us. We also saw from this scripture that the unbelievers have their understanding darkened having refused the word of God which is the true light. They may have an idea of what is going on but they cannot understand beyond what they see and hear because only the word of God gives light and understanding. The verse goes on to say they are alienated from the life of God showing us that truly, we who have believed have the life of God. God expects us to live our lives with this consciousness and understanding that we have a different life, a life that cannot be affected by what affects the rest of the world.

Going further, Pastor read verses 22-24 of Ephesians 4,

“That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts And be renewed in the spirit of your mind And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness, And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness”

We are instructed to put off the old man, that is, the lifestyle we were used to prior to being born again, the way we think influences our lifestyle, so the way we do this is by renewing our mind with the word of God.

Pastor got to the crux of the message explaining the latter part of the scripture where we are instructed to put on the new man who is created after God, this tells us that we are created with the same intensity and distribution as God and there is no difference between us. We can function exactly like God and do the same things he does.

Jesus recognized that he was just like God and he said it boldly, when we got born again, God became our father and just like Jesus, we became Sons of God, one with the Father. God’s desire is for his Sons to act in the same capacity as he does, we can do anything we see in the word. In the mind of God, the Christian who sees something in the word and thinks he cannot do it is deceiving himself, the Christian who thinks he can be hurt or affected by what cannot affect Jesus is walking in deceit (James 1:23-24). In the event of a pandemic like the world is currently experiencing, the Christian who goes about responding like the world does because he thinks he can be affected may think he is being wise and merely taking precautions but God sees him as deceiving himself. Jesus showed us once and for all time that the life we have received cannot be affected by contagious diseases when he touched a leper.

God’s utmost desire is that we recognize that we are one with him as seen in Jesus’ prayer to the Father in John 17:23,

“I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me”

It was a really insightful message and we have been challenged to fully recognize and manifest our oneness with the lord.

Glory!
