It was yet another Super Sunday service as we got to learn vital truths from the word of God.
Pastor shared from 2 Timothy 3:16, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”
The word of God is profitable. There is no time you listen to or study the word of God that you are not changed for the better. Pastor taught us that every time spent with the word of God always yields results and charged us to always have time for the word of God no matter how busy we may seem to be. The word of God knows all things and can give you everything you want.
The word of God is profitable for correction. If you are on a wrong path, when the word of God shows you that you are on a wrong path, change direction and don’t argue with the word.
Pastor also emphasized on the need to follow physical instructions in order to be able to truly follow spiritual instructions. If you cannot keep to physical instructions such as lift up your hands, speak in tongues and attend church services, it would be impossible for you to receive or keep to much more important instructions that God wants to give you for your progress.
Using the example of Jesus speaking to the fig tree without any obvious change for over a day even though something was happening inside the tree and the example of how the food we eat works in our body but this working not always instantly obvious as we eat, Pastor made us understand that when we follow the instructions given to us by the word, we can be sure that it is working even when it seems like it is not. We were admonished to be confident that the words we have spoken is working irrespective of what it seems like.
Bringing the message to a climax, Pastor taught from Hebrews 12: 9-10,
“Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.”
Pastor showed us that unlike our earthly parents who corrected us to satisfy their pleasure, the Word of God corrects us for our own profit and so that we might partake of his holiness. Pastor explained that God is holy, separated from this world, not just in location but in experience, immune from the common experiences in the world. That is the life he lives, holy and separated from this world and he wants us to be partakers of this holiness.
As we allow the word of God instruct and correct us, setting us on a path of righteousness, we partake in this separation that God enjoys, separated from the sickness, failure and confusion that is in the world as we follow God’s instructions.
What an awesome privilege we have to be instructed by the word and to be partakers of God’s holiness. Glory!
