“For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
2Peter 1:8

The word of God tells us that after we believed and received the gospel by faith, in order to be fruitful and productive in our knowledge of Jesus- that means what we know about Jesus produces tangible results in our lives and in our world- he says, we should add to that faith, moral excellence!
“And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.” 2 Peter 1:5-7
Then he says, add to moral excellence, knowledge. The word “knowledge” is gotten from the word “gnosis”, which means knowledge gotten through scientific study/ research.
The word of God is saying, that every one of us ought to be students of the word- take out time to read, read and read. He says, reading like this would ensure you remain fruitful and productive in your knowledge (Epignosis- the knowledge that makes you one with what you know) of the Lord. It’s not enough to hear about God, you want to produce tangible results in your Christian walk? Learn to sit down and study, God wants you to study!
Be erudite about your study; this means move from just reading disorganized verses/chapters, to planning to finish a book of the Bible, then books of the Bible! Be scholarly!!
