“And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your …And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.” 2 Peter 1:5-7
The last item to add our faith is “love”, and love is the fruit of the spirit, meaning we possess love already:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love…” Galatians 5:22
Interestingly, every thing we were told to add to our faith, we already possess with the new life, so we don’t look for them from the outside, but we learn to look at the mirror of our spirit (the word of God), and manifest them consistently in our lives.
We were not left to guess what the expressions of love should look like, the word of God made it very clear:
“Love is always patient; love is always kind; love is never envious or arrogant with pride. Nor is she conceited, and she is never rude; she never thinks just of herself or ever gets annoyed. She never is resentful; is never glad with sin; she’s always glad to side with truth, and pleased that truth will win. She bears up under everything; believes the best in all; there is no limit to her hope, and never will she fall. Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, ISV
These are expressions that can easily be measured and expressed by you in your daily walk on the earth and it is so simple for you, because you have God’s love to the overflow already:
“And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” Romans 5:5
He even goes ahead to tell us that love is the root and basis of excellence expressed:
“And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent;” Philippians 1:9-10
No wonder he says if you add love in abounding measure, it’ll “make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 1:8
