“For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.”
James 3:2
The Bible shows us a man who doesn’t offend in word is a mature man, he didn’t say a man who doesn’t offend in speech, else the Greek would be ‘laleo’, instead he uses the Greek ‘logos’, meaning he is saying a mature man is a man whose speech is never in opposition to the word of God.
No wonder Jesus said:
“For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.” John 12:49
What a matured son of God! His words were solely what his Father wanted said, and no wonder, he is the word of God after all, and the Bible tells us:
“being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” 1 Peter 1:23
We also are offsprings of the word and just like Jesus, God has given us words to foster our maturity and influence our experiences in life.
