“And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭18‬

In the thick of an unpleasant situation, when you feel like doing almost anything but rejoicing and praising God, he tells you to offer a sacrifice- the sacrifice of praise, giving thanks to his name! He says it as though he expects such a sacrifice to change the trajectory of the situation, because it would.
The Bible tells us one way to be filled with the Spirit:
“speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭19‬
Meaning despite how you feel, when you speak God’s word to yourself, sing praises and make melodies in your heart to him (all of which are your sacrifices of praise) being filled with the Spirit, consistent with his presence, things will change:
“until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭32‬:‭15‬
