“To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:” Romans 2:7
The Bible tells us the prophecies about Jesus’ coming were in two parts:
“Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.” 1 Peter 1:11
His sufferings and the glory to follow his sufferings. This means God showed them that the Christ would come and would suffer for the sins of mankind, the plan was not that he would suffer forever because after three days he resurrected— meaning the suffering stopped. What was to follow afterwards? Glory! All who believe in him were supposed to live a life of glory!
No wonder in the call of our predestination:
“Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called…” Romans 8:30
Was a call to glory and virtue:
“…through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:” 2 Peter 1:3
Was a call to fellowship with Jesus:
“God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:9
And what could be more glorious? Remember it was that glory that he had (in fellowship) with the father that Jesus sought: John 17:5
