“These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.”
John 15:11
In the main verse, Jesus says his word is his joy, and not just that, his word is also our joy- our overflowing joy! Wow!
You can have someone become incredibly sad because of something they heard about themselves, their loved ones, a condition or an event— goes to show how words can affect one’s emotions and resolve.
So he tells us:
“…incline your ears to the words of my mouth.” Psalms 78:1, Proverbs 4:20
His word is our joy- incline your ears to him instead, guard and block out other words that can cause grief (Proverbs 4:23), he already carried your grief and sorrows:
“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows…” Isaiah 53:4
Now live in his glory and his joy- choose his word over all.
