“This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; But their heart is far from me.”

Look at this:
“For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.” Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬
And this:
“Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭7‬-‭8‬
No wonder God so despises the arm of flesh, because while his desires for you are thoughts of peace and not of evil to bring you to an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11), if the flesh solely and constantly desires against that, then being fascinated and giving in to the desires of the flesh and the world (which is the sum of the desires of all flesh- 1 John 2:16-17) would end up destroying you- causing you trouble and evil and derailing you from his expected end: Proverbs 8:36
