“This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; But their heart is far from me.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭15‬:‭8‬

See how Jesus described those whose hearts were far from God:
“But in vain they do worship me, Teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” Matthew‬ ‭15‬:‭9‬ ‭
They teach the as a doctrine the commandments of men, so their worship is vain. They esteem the ideals and strong points of men above what God has said, even if God has said the exact opposite as Jesus showed here:
“…Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭15‬:‭(3-)6‬
Any worship outside of God’s word is vain; and worship is beyond singing songs to God but living the life that is holy and acceptable to God:
“I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭1‬ ‭RSV‬‬
A life lives outside God’s word is to God, vain.
