“This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; But their heart is far from me.”
Matthew 15:8
God is so marvelous, his observations go beyond what we see externally, to the state of a man’s heart, he told Prophet Samuel:
“…the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7
So what’s more important to God isn’t the physical place where he’s being worshipped or talked about:
“…the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.” John 4:21
Or the way those talking about him sound or seem primarily as seen in the main verse, but the state of their hearts.
Where does your heart lie, when you worship and serve? It shouldn’t be to prove a point to others or justify yourself, your service and worship should be solely to the Lord from your heart.
