“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:”
Matthew 7:24
We are God’s building; his super structure, he told us as we listen to the word of God we are built, but our doing the word of God would determine the foundation of our structure:
“And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:” Matthew 7:26
The man who hears the word and ignores doing the word, is also building- after all the message enters his heart, he could probably recite the word, so the word is with him anyhow, but his negligence in doing the word, means irrespective of how much of that message he can recite, he’s building on sand and he’s deemed a foolish man.
The man who doesn’t even remember the word of God after hearing it is called a self deluded man:
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.” James 1:22-24
But this is not true about you, Christ is your wisdom and you are wise, you hear the word and do the word immediately you have an opportunity. When you hear the message on love, you immediately respond by forgiving those that have upset and choosing not to recall their offense because:
“…love covers a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8, ISV
