“His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”
Matthew 25:23
A good servant is one who is solely committed to and lives by the word of God, Jesus had said:
“…there is none good but one, that is, God.” Mark 10:18
The word of God is God, so only the word of God and the one who is committed in service to the word is a good servant, but he also tells us to aspire to be faithful— to be loyal to the word; meaning unmoved by external factors in our service to him. The Bible says:
“As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;” Colossians 1:7
Epaphras was called a faithful minister of Christ when it came to his service to God concerning the brethren, but we see what he occupied himself with:
“Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.” Colossians 4:12
He was always praying for the brethren that they not only know God’s will revealed in his word but they were fully matured and satisfied in the word.
A faithful servant gives men the word and prays for them to receive and live by the word.
