“Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.”
Romans 4:4
He tells in the main chapter that nobody works for grace, it’s not about what you do or work for; its a gift from God, Ephesians 2:8!
Isn’t that amazing— that there is a chance that you can be accepted before God and be fruitful in life irrespective of any action you take?
God had told the children of Israel this:
“You may raise grain and grapes for six years, but the seventh year you must let your fields and vineyards rest in honor of me, your LORD. This is to be a time of complete rest for your fields and vineyards, so don’t harvest anything they produce.” Leviticus 25:3-5, CEV
And before they could ponder, complain or ask questions, he said this:
“Don’t ever worry about what you will eat during the seventh year when you are forbidden to plant or harvest. I will see to it that you harvest enough in the sixth year to last for three years.” Leviticus 25:20-21, CEV
Without working for a year, they’d still have enough for their sustenance! That’s an example of grace, so the concept of being blessed without any effort of one’s own isn’t new. What do you do with this knowledge? First start by accepting its truth and that it can be so in your life.
