“Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?”
Matthew 20:15

The Bible tells us to learn from Jesus because he set an example for us to walk in his steps:
“For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:” 1 Peter 2:21
This means the idea that you can’t walk on the earth like he did is incorrect, he lived his life on the earth and made that same life available so you would live like him on the earth. See the example he set:
“People insulted him, but he did not insult them back…” 1 Peter 2:23, ERV
When he was insulted, he didn’t insult back even though he was innocent. Remarkably, at the point of being insulted, he was still willing to die for those who insulted him. Now the Bible tells us:
“Don’t do wrong to anyone to pay them back for doing wrong to you. Or don’t insult anyone to pay them back for insulting you. But ask God to bless them…” 1 Peter 3:9, ERV
Bless those that curse you, he moves beyond just being quiet, to actively expecting their good. One way to come out of hurt is not just to silently forgive but to consciously pray for the repentance, transformation and
wellbeing of your detractors; that’s the Jesus way: Matthew 5:44.
